“They seem to hate you because you’re there…”
(Song by Colin Vearncombe, 1962 – 2016)
What does it mean? People will not like it so much that you are carefree enough to be just who you are. Sadly, they are envious of that sort of accomplishment. What they have no idea of: The work that was necessary to get to that point. If they knew the struggles and hardship it takes, they will probably be happy at where they are.

Some philosopher once said: An unexamined life is not worth living (Plato’s Sokrates, alas my teacher). Well, it depends on where you want to head to.
Success is necessarily connected to the very core of who you are. If you are postponing to look at yourself, you will necessarily live a lie and people will notice it somehow. Something will be just off. You will look for superficiality, meaning that you will look out and seek material things. But they will never endure. What will remain is the little time that is left to live as your real self. In the last hours of life, people will want to do just what they really want to do: be themselves.
Why do they not start when it is still enough time to do so? It’s the less hurtful thing then, why putting it off? At the core, it is sad. Sad to do so. I feel empathy with all human kind that does not have the chance to look at oneself in a reflective way. It means not living the life you want to have.
It takes time to get there but it also takes some material safety, too. Not wanting to be a hypocrite, it is time to accept: You can only become who you are when you have got the safety for it. Feeling safe means being cared for. Cared for by someone or by your very self.
Choose wisely, if you can.
If you have got the time and if you are brave.
One response to “It’s A Wonderful Life”
Amen 🙏🏻
